G42, Analog and MBZUAI sign three MoUs with Yann LeCun’s AMI Labs

G42 and Analog’s non-binding memoranda cover research, computing infrastructure and possible uses for world models in robots. Their commercial terms and implementation await separate agreements.

G42, Analog and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) signed three separate memoranda of understanding with Yann LeCun’s AMI Labs on 20 October in Abu Dhabi, EnterpriseAM reported. G42 described its agreements with AMI Labs as non-binding and said their scope, commercial terms and implementation would be settled in separate definitive agreements. G42 and Analog signed their agreements alongside the UAE-France Business Dialogue, while MBZUAI signed its memorandum during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit.

Key points

  • G42’s proposed work with AMI Labs covers cloud infrastructure and AI models.
  • Analog’s agreement concerns potential uses for world models in robots and other physical AI.
  • MBZUAI’s separate memorandum focuses on research.
  • AMI Labs raised $1.03 billion at a $3.5 billion valuation in March.

G42 agreements require further terms

G42 is an Abu Dhabi technology group, while Analog is a company in its portfolio. Advanced Machine Intelligence, or AMI Labs, is a Paris-based research company co-founded by LeCun. It works on world models, which are AI systems designed to learn about physical surroundings, predict the effects of actions and plan what to do next. The memoranda set out areas for discussion rather than a deployment of those systems.

G42 said the proposed collaboration would bring AMI Labs’ research together with its computing infrastructure, cloud services and deployment capabilities. The parties intend to exchange information and define shared objectives. The areas under consideration include advanced compute infrastructure, cloud services that support sovereign control, frontier AI research and potential industrial applications.

The distinction between the documents matters for the work they describe. G42’s announcement says separate definitive agreements will determine what is undertaken and on what commercial terms. Mansoor Al Mansoori, CEO of G42 International, described the work with AMI Labs as an effort to advance world models and what the companies call Physical Intelligence — AI intended to interact with the physical world.

Analog targets robots and physical AI

EnterpriseAM reported that the three memoranda divide the proposed work among the Abu Dhabi signatories. G42’s covers cloud infrastructure and AI models, MBZUAI’s covers research, and Analog’s concerns applying AMI Labs’ models to robots and other physical AI. MBZUAI is the UAE’s university focused on artificial intelligence.

G42 said Analog’s platform would form part of the proposed work to identify industrial uses for world models. Analog was founded by Alex Kipman, who worked on Microsoft’s HoloLens and Kinect and moved to Abu Dhabi to launch the company with G42. His company’s role centres on possible applications of the research, distinct from G42’s infrastructure and MBZUAI’s research remit.

AMI Labs co-founder and chief executive Alexandre Lebrun said the partners would explore what world models could do in physical settings, according to a press release published by Zawya. G42’s announcement spells his first name Alexandrew.

AMI Labs’ $1.03 billion round

AMI Labs raised $1.03 billion at a $3.5 billion valuation in March, EnterpriseAM reported. The publication described the financing as Europe’s largest-ever seed round. LeCun, a Turing Award laureate and former chief AI scientist at Meta, co-founded the company to pursue models that learn from the physical world rather than language alone.

The Abu Dhabi signings also connect with G42’s existing presence in France. G42 says it operates an AI data centre in Grenoble. Its strategic partnership with French AI company Mistral AI was formalised in May 2025.
