Google announced a workplace Gemini agent on 8 October 2026 that it says can handle assignments lasting hours or days across Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Slack, VentureBeat reported.

Google says the agent can retain its memory and business context as work moves between applications and devices. It can use Anthropic’s Claude models alongside Gemini, with support for further proprietary and open-weight models planned. Connections include Salesforce, ServiceNow, Jira, Snowflake and Microsoft Teams.

One configuration gives a shared agent its own Workspace account, email address, calendar and Drive storage. Google says agents have identities and permissions managed through enterprise systems, with their actions recorded in audit logs. Its proposed memory system covers ongoing tasks, accumulated knowledge, learned workflows and previous work.

Google’s announcement follows Microsoft’s 25 September combination of Copilot products for corporate customers. Microsoft is rolling out Copilot Home and Code through its Frontier programme, while its persistent Autopilot agent is expanding through private preview.
