Huawei said in a statement on 16 October that it and China’s State Information Center had released the AI CITY Development Research Report 2026 and launched an international alliance with 14 partners at HUAWEI CONNECT 2026 in Shanghai.
The Global AI CITY Innovation & Development Ecosystem Alliance includes TIS, Egabi Solution, HMN Tech, Epoint and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, according to Huawei. The company said the group would focus on computing collaboration, data circulation and applications for cities.
Huawei said the report proposes a shift from data-driven city systems to “city super agents” and includes examples from Shenzhen, Wuhan and Karamay. Its proposed technical architecture uses OpenHarmony for city terminals and Ascend AI computing across devices, edge systems and cloud infrastructure.
Mohammed Ashgar of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Municipalities and Housing said an intelligent work-order system already in use for urban governance classifies incidents automatically and achieves an accuracy rate of over 80%, according to Huawei.
