Intel chief executive Lip-Bu Tan said Chinese frontier AI models had lower token costs and adoption had been “very fast” at a DBS-organised panel in Singapore on 12 October, Reuters reported.
Tan named DeepSeek, Kimi and GLM, describing their performance as “good enough”. He said markets would decide which models best suited different uses. “I’m a strong believer of open source, that’s the best way to drive efficiency,” he said.
Tan also said quantum computing could become mainstream within the next three to five years. He said software would play a role in making efficient use of some of the infrastructure it would require.
