Meta launched Meta Enterprise Platform on 28 September and named MongoDB chief Chirantan “CJ” Desai to lead it, as shares in his former employer fell 17% following the announcement, CNBC reported. Desai will report directly to Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Meta puts Muse products on an enterprise platform
Zuckerberg described the platform as the next major part of Meta’s business. Meta already helps hundreds of millions of businesses reach customers, he said, and the new operation will focus on bringing its AI products to businesses and developers. The initial range will include the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code.
The plan brings together products Meta has introduced for different uses. Meta presented Muse as a personal AI agent on 8 September. It introduced Meta Business Agent in June, while its Business Agent features for WhatsApp and Messenger are designed to automate customer interactions, Crypto Briefing reported. Meta launched Muse Code in beta on 22 September.
Desai said the enterprise operation would turn Meta’s AI technology into products and services that companies could deploy in their own businesses. He said security and privacy were built into Meta’s enterprise products from the outset. Both executives framed the platform around Meta’s existing AI models, agents and infrastructure, as well as its relationships with businesses.
Meta’s launch places a dedicated executive over that range of products. Zuckerberg said the company would initially concentrate on making its existing technology available to businesses and developers. Desai’s remit covers the platform as a whole, rather than a single agent or developer tool.
Desai leaves MongoDB for a direct line to Zuckerberg
Desai joins Meta as Chief Enterprise Platform Officer after serving as CEO and President of MongoDB. Before MongoDB, Desai oversaw engineering and product at Cloudflare and served as President and COO during nearly eight years at ServiceNow, Zuckerberg said.
Those appointments give Meta an executive whose recent work has been in enterprise software, product development and company leadership. Zuckerberg pointed to Desai’s experience across AI, infrastructure, business applications and security when announcing the hire. He also said Meta expected to work with Desai’s industry network as it built the platform.
MongoDB shares fell 17% following the news, CNBC reported. Desai resigned as MongoDB’s President and CEO on 28 September, Crypto Briefing reported. MongoDB brought back former CEO Dev Ittycheria as interim leader. Desai had taken MongoDB’s top job in November 2025.
Meta’s capital expenditure forecast reaches $130 billion
Meta raised its capital expenditure forecast for 2026 to $130 billion from $125 billion, with AI infrastructure accounting for almost all of the increase. The forecast covers Meta’s broader spending rather than a stated budget for the new enterprise platform.
Zuckerberg identified large-scale infrastructure alongside models, agents and Meta’s work with businesses as resources for the platform. Desai said the operation would focus on products that companies could deploy for their own use. Meta’s initial product range spans customer-facing agents, a coding agent and an API for developers.
