Mubadala Investment Company and Together AI announced a partnership on 29 September 2026 to explore AI infrastructure opportunities in the UAE, following Mubadala’s US$100 million investment in the company’s Series C financing round, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

Key points

  • The partners will identify opportunities to develop and deploy AI in the UAE.
  • Together AI plans an Abu Dhabi office, bringing its inference and research capabilities closer to regional developers.
  • Mubadala’s US$100 million participation was in a financing round announced on 1 July 2026.

Mubadala’s US$100 million Series C investment

Mubadala took part in Together AI’s Series C alongside other technology and financial investors. The round was announced on 1 July 2026. The September partnership covers the identification of potential infrastructure and ecosystem opportunities.

The collaboration is between Mubadala’s UAE Investments Platform and Together AI. WAM reported that Mubadala’s technology-infrastructure investment supports the UAE’s shift towards a knowledge-based economy and reflects its focus on AI as a long-term source of economic value. Its stated aim for the partnership is to attract technology companies and develop local technical capabilities.

Ali Eid AlMheiri, Executive Director, Diversified Assets, UAE Investments Platform at Mubadala, said the collaboration would expand access to AI infrastructure. He linked that work to Mubadala’s aim of moving innovation from research into practical applications. Those are ambitions for the partnership; the arrangement announced on 29 September is to seek opportunities for development and deployment.

Together AI plans an Abu Dhabi office

Together AI plans to establish an office in Abu Dhabi as part of the partnership. The local presence would put its inference and research capabilities closer to developers building AI applications in the UAE and the wider region. AlMheiri said the office would deepen the company’s engagement with the UAE’s technology ecosystem.

The partners intend to identify opportunities that support AI development and deployment in the UAE. WAM linked the work to Abu Dhabi’s ambition to develop capabilities across the AI value chain and deepen technical expertise in the country. The announced scope spans infrastructure and the broader ecosystem, with the Abu Dhabi office the stated step for Together AI.

That makes the office a distinct commitment from Mubadala’s earlier investment. The US$100 million figure relates to the Series C round, while the new collaboration sets out work the two organisations intend to pursue together in the UAE.

Together AI targets open-model compute

Together AI, founded in 2022 and headquartered in San Francisco, provides a platform for inference, model shaping and accelerated compute. Its services are aimed at developers and enterprises building and operating generative AI applications with open and custom models.

Vipul Ved Prakash, Together AI’s founder and chief executive, said demand for open-source AI was growing faster than the compute available to serve it. He said developers wanted the ability to control, adapt and deploy open models, but needed infrastructure that could run them. Together AI was expanding that infrastructure globally, he said, and viewed Mubadala as a partner for doing so more quickly.

The company’s platform also supports model shaping, alongside the inference services and accelerated compute that developers can use to run applications. WAM described the platform as research-optimised and said it helps developers and enterprises operate applications built with both open and custom AI models.
