NTT Data Group is in final-stage talks to build a data centre for Anthropic in Osaka, with construction costs that could reach up to 1 trillion yen ($6.3 billion), Reuters reported on 13 October, citing the Nikkei.
The Nikkei cited multiple sources for the proposed project. NTT Data Group is a unit of Japanese telecommunications company NTT. NTT Data and Anthropic aim to sign an agreement for the facility, which would be Anthropic’s first dedicated data centre in Japan.
The planned centre would have power intake capacity of up to 500 megawatts. Partial operations could begin as early as 2028.
