Regional rollout and agency network
The expansion follows earlier Asia Pacific launches in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and India, OpenAI said. The OpenAI Ads Solutions team, agency partners including dentsu, Havas Media, Omnicom Media, Publicis Groupe and WPP, and technology partners provide advertiser access, while self-service through Ads Manager is also available for eligible businesses.
Ads are shown only to users on the Free and Go plans, OpenAI said. Plus, Pro, and Enterprise subscriptions remain ad-free.
Revenue run rate and advertiser base
OpenAI disclosed at the end of August 2026 that ChatGPT Ads had achieved a $1 billion annualized revenue run rate within 200 days of launch. Tens of thousands of advertisers are now running ads in ChatGPT, according to the company.
“We’re at the beginning of a new chapter for advertising, with AI creating new ways for businesses and people to connect. Our expansion into more markets across Asia brings that opportunity to businesses of every size, from global brands looking for new ways to grow to entrepreneurs and startups running their first campaign.”

Shopee extends partnership to new markets
Shopee, the e-commerce platform, said it will extend its ChatGPT Ads collaboration to Southeast Asia and Taiwan. Peggy Zhu, Executive Director of Brand and Growth Marketing at Shopee, said the company is pleased to broaden the partnership following the launch of ChatGPT Ads in Brazil.
“OpenAI is a valued strategic partner for Shopee as we explore how AI can enhance the e-commerce experience for buyers while supporting sellers in growing their businesses. Across our markets, we are expanding access to AI-powered tools that help buyers discover what they need and enable sellers to reach and serve customers more effectively.”

OpenAI’s advertising principles and future plans
OpenAI said it keeps conversations private from advertisers and does not sell customer data. Ads in ChatGPT are labeled separately from the chatbot’s answers, and advertising does not influence the answers provided, according to the company. Users have control over ad personalization, with ad-free paid plans available.
OpenAI said it will continue to expand into new markets, build new formats, and develop optimization tools and measurement solutions over the next few months.
