OpenAI brings GPT-5.6 Cyber to approved AWS GovCloud customers

Daybreak Red is available through Amazon Bedrock for authorised cybersecurity work. Customers need separate OpenAI approval and AWS provisioning to use it.

OpenAI said on 4 November that approved customers can now access GPT-5.6 Cyber through Daybreak Red on Amazon Bedrock in AWS GovCloud (US-East), extending its cybersecurity model to eligible government security teams. Daybreak models became available on Amazon Bedrock on 11 August.

OpenAI says Daybreak Red is intended for authorised vulnerability research, exploit validation and security testing. The company says GPT-5.6 Cyber can help defenders examine software weaknesses, reproduce vulnerabilities in controlled settings and develop mitigations. It advises qualified security practitioners to review findings and proposed fixes before implementation.

According to OpenAI, Daybreak Red allows verified defenders fewer refusals for authorised cybersecurity tasks, alongside identity checks, monitoring and access controls. The company says inference data from Daybreak Red on Amazon Bedrock is not used to train models, and customers need not share that data with OpenAI. Access requires Daybreak Red approval from OpenAI and provisioning by AWS. OpenAI says its approval does not automatically enable access on AWS.
