Oracle announced four products with OpenAI at Oracle AI World in Las Vegas on 27 October, extending a partnership centred on data-centre computing into the business applications and cloud services used by Oracle customers. The products bring ChatGPT, Codex and OpenAI models into Oracle’s enterprise software, database and cloud infrastructure, according to Oracle’s announcement.
Key points
- Oracle AI Workspace is designed to connect ChatGPT with Fusion Applications, NetSuite, Oracle AI Database and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Oracle AI Security Mesh and Oracle App Composer pair OpenAI models with Oracle-managed testing and application deployment.
- The free-to-start Oracle AI SMB Bundle includes $12,000 in Oracle cloud credits each year, subject to terms and restrictions.
Oracle AI Workspace opens systems to ChatGPT
Oracle says AI Workspace will let employees use plugins in ChatGPT to retrieve information, complete approved workflows and act across Oracle systems. The company designed it to connect Oracle Fusion Applications, NetSuite, Oracle AI Database, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and other enterprise tools. Oracle says the work will remain subject to the approvals and controls customers use for business operations.
The interface puts OpenAI in a different position in the relationship. OpenAI trained its GPT-6 Astra model at Oracle’s Abilene, Texas, data-centre site, part of the $500 billion Stargate venture formed with Oracle, SoftBank and MGX, The AI Economy reported. The newly announced products bring OpenAI’s tools into the software Oracle customers use, rather than only the computing infrastructure behind its models.
Karan Batta, who runs product for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, told The AI Economy that customers want answers assembled from systems that struggle to share information. His example was a request to identify storage buckets with open ports in an Oracle cloud account and match them with employees who can access them. That task would require information from both OCI and a human-resources system.
The AI Economy compared Oracle’s use of ChatGPT as a work interface with Salesforce’s use of Slack. Oracle has also added a Fusion Claw runtime to 25 agentic applications, AI Affairs previously reported. Clay Magouyrk, Oracle’s chief executive, said the OpenAI suite brings models together with Oracle’s applications, data and cloud infrastructure.
Oracle AI Security Mesh sets testing boundaries
Oracle describes AI Security Mesh as a managed service that uses OpenAI cyber models to look for and help fix vulnerabilities in applications and infrastructure. The company says testing can cover OCI, other clouds and systems kept on a customer’s premises. Customers set the authorised areas and scope, while Oracle manages testing tools, independent validation and safeguards intended to limit disruption.
For application development, Oracle says App Composer lets employees build software with Codex without coding expertise. Oracle would manage deployment and operations on OCI. The company says applications built this way can connect to approved Oracle data and workflows, with identity, permissions, networking and audit controls applied to them.
App Composer also supports APEXlang, which Oracle describes as a way to generate applications without producing code that is difficult to maintain. Greg Brockman, OpenAI’s president and co-founder, said the expanded partnership is intended to help teams build software faster and strengthen security as they use AI in everyday operations.
Oracle AI SMB Bundle offers $12,000 annually
Oracle says its AI SMB Bundle is free to start and provides small businesses with $12,000 in Oracle cloud credits each year, subject to terms, conditions and restrictions. The package combines ChatGPT Business, AI Workspace, Codex, App Composer and OCI. Unlike the other products in the announcement, the bundle attaches an annual credit amount to the offer.
The bundle also includes NetSuite QuickStart. Oracle says that product provides small businesses with tools for core operations, including invoicing and cash flow.
