Gasgoo reported that China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released High-Value Scenarios for AI Empowering New Industrialization on 15 October 2026, naming automotive among 20 sectors covered by the roadmap. Research institutes and enterprises developed the document, which sets out over 1,000 AI application scenarios drawn from manufacturing practice. Petrochemicals, steel and consumer electronics are also included.

Under an “AI + Manufacturing” action plan issued jointly by eight ministries, proposed automotive applications include models that generate vehicle body and interior designs, simulations to adjust structural strength and drag, and systems for quality control and predictive maintenance. The plan also calls for reconfigurable production lines, online vehicle performance testing and quality records spanning a vehicle’s life.

MIIT has organised nearly 30 industry events connecting over 5,000 companies and supported 18 national AI innovation application pilot zones, including Beijing and the Jinan-Qingdao cluster, Gasgoo reported. The ministry has driven development of nearly 200 key technical standards, and a 60 billion yuan national AI industrial investment fund has been established.
