Xinhua reported that China National Data Group Co., Ltd. was inaugurated on 20 October in Xiongan New Area, Hebei province. The centrally administered state-owned enterprise is based there and specialises in developing and using data resources.

The group will serve as a national platform for data sharing across industries and regions, Reuters reported. State television CCTV described the National Data Administration, formed in 2023, as responsible for policy design and the new enterprise as focused on market operations and implementation, Reuters reported.

Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang attended the inauguration and linked the company’s creation to AI development and building a digital China, the South China Morning Post reported. Xiongan, established in April 2017, has received state-owned institutions relocated from Beijing.

The group’s establishment brings the number of state-owned enterprises directly administered by the central government to 100, according to Xinhua.
