Applied Materials expects to double revenue over the next few years without doubling headcount, Bloomberg reported on 12 October, citing chief executive Gary Dickerson.
“As we double the size of the company over the next few years, we’re not going to be doubling headcount,” Dickerson said in an interview. The chip-equipment maker is relying more on AI tools for product development and quality control, Bloomberg reported.
Applied Materials has also expanded its research partnerships. AI Affairs previously reported its AI chipmaking research agreement with Intel and KIOXIA’s memory partnership at the EPIC Center.
Applied Materials’ revenue rose from $7.9 billion in the quarter ended 26 April 2026 to a record $9.1 billion in its fiscal third quarter ended 26 July, The Motley Fool reported. Qualcomm recorded $9.9 billion in revenue in its quarter ended 28 June.
