Baseten is set to raise funding in two tranches valuing it at $26 billion and $30 billion, compared with $13 billion in June, FourWeekMBA reported on 30 October. The company sells AI inference software and computing capacity. The proposed round has not closed.
The $26 billion price had surfaced in funding talks reported on 23 September. The second tranche would put Baseten above that proposed valuation. In June, the company said it had raised $1.5 billion at a $13 billion valuation in a round led by Sands Capital and Wellington Management, according to FourWeekMBA’s account of Reuters’ reporting.
Baseten has positioned its offering as a cheaper alternative to providers including OpenAI and Anthropic. The company said in June that its revenue had grown 20-fold over the preceding year and that it would use the funding to expand computing capacity, software and hiring.
