BDx Data Centers broke ground on 22 September on its planned 640 MW CGK4 AI data centre campus in Jatiluhur, West Java, backed by 845 MVA of grid capacity from state utility PLN, according to the company’s announcement.

PLN capacity underpins the Jatiluhur campus
CGK4 is about 5 km from the Jatiluhur Dam in Purwakarta. BDx says PLN will supply the campus through Indonesia’s national grid framework. The 845 MVA secured for the site is grid capacity, while the project’s 640 MW figure describes the planned data centre campus. Construction has begun on the first of its six buildings.
The campus sits within a wider Indonesian expansion. BDx says CGK4 and its two other AI-focused campuses, CGK3/3A and CGK5, have more than 1.2 GVA of secured grid capacity between them. The figure covers all three sites, rather than capacity assigned to the West Java project alone.
BDx is also pursuing a hydroelectric power arrangement with state-owned water resources company Perum Jasa Tirta II for CGK4. PLN remains the identified grid supplier. BDx describes the proposed arrangement as part of its efforts to obtain lower-carbon power for a campus whose buildings are planned to come into operation in stages.
US$320 million loan supports BDx expansion
BDx secured a US$320 million loan facility in 2026 to support its expansion in Indonesia, The Business Times reported. The facility supports the company’s Indonesian programme, which includes CGK4, rather than being described as financing solely for the West Java campus. BDx is backed by I Squared Capital and also operates in Singapore, Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan.
The company has presented Indonesia as a market with grid access, land for large campuses and domestic demand for AI infrastructure. BDx also points to Special Economic Zone incentives for large infrastructure projects. Those conditions form the company’s case for building several Indonesian campuses, while its construction timetable places the delivery of CGK4’s capacity across successive buildings.
BDx says the project has drawn interest from hyperscalers, technology companies, AI cloud providers and enterprises. It did not disclose customers or contract values, The Business Times reported. BDx has described the first portion of the initial building as a contracted phase, a narrower commitment than occupancy of the full planned campus.
CGK4 first building planned for 120 MW IT capacity
BDx expects CGK4 to take about three years to develop, commissioning its six planned buildings sequentially. The first building is planned to provide 120 MW of IT capacity in phases. Its specification includes direct-to-chip liquid cooling intended to support racks requiring up to 500 kW, according to The Business Times.
The company says CGK4 received certification under Nvidia’s DGX-Ready Colocation Data Center programme in April 2025. The programme covers facilities designed to accommodate Nvidia AI computing systems.
BDx expects the first contracted phase of the 120 MW building to enter service in early 2027.
