Colt DCS and RMZ began construction of their 64MW Mumbai 3 data centre on 15 October as part of a $1.7 billion Indian joint venture, according to a Colt DCS press release. The company says the facility is fully pre-let and has signed its first hyperscale customer.
Colt DCS says ground preparation began in December 2025. Mumbai 3 will join two data centres serving enterprise and cloud workloads at the partners’ Navi Mumbai Campus, the company says. It expects the new facility to bring the campus’s operational capacity to 86MW upon completion. The campus has potential for up to 148MW at full development, according to Colt DCS.
The company says Mumbai 3 will combine air cooling with direct liquid-to-chip cooling. It says the facility will run on 100% renewable energy and use a closed-loop cooling system designed to produce near-zero wastewater from cooling. Colt DCS expects more than 700 jobs across construction and operations. The partners’ joint venture, announced in 2024, has committed to developing 250MW of data centre capacity across Mumbai and Chennai, the company says.
