CoreWeave co-founders Michael Intrator, Brian Venturo and Brannin McBee have sold $3.3 billion in shares since the company’s March 2025 initial public offering, including $2.4 billion in 2026, Citybiz reported on 16 October. The shares have fallen more than 60% from their June 2025 peak.
Key points
- Intrator has sold more than $907 million in shares since January 2026, against less than $70 million in 2025.
- McBee has sold approximately $1.06 billion since the IPO, while Venturo has sold more than $1.2 billion.
- CoreWeave says the founders’ sales were arranged in advance and that they still own approximately 20% of the company collectively.
Intrator’s sales exceed $907 million in 2026
Intrator has sold more than $907 million of CoreWeave stock since January, compared with less than $70 million throughout 2025. His sales since the listing are equivalent to approximately 16.5% of his undiluted holding at the IPO. Citybiz reported that he was among the five largest sellers of shares in their own US companies in each of the past two quarters, based on Bloomberg’s ranking.
McBee’s disposals total approximately $1.06 billion since the offering, including $577 million in 2026. The shares he has sold represent roughly 40.4% of his undiluted IPO holding. Cash and equivalents now make up nearly 40% of his wealth, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index figures reported by Citybiz.
Venturo has sold more than $1.2 billion since CoreWeave went public. That includes $734 million in the second quarter of 2026, when Citybiz reported he ranked second among sellers of shares in their own US companies. Across the period since the IPO, his sales exceed 35% of his original stake.
The three founders’ holdings have changed alongside the company’s share price. They have collectively lost approximately $15 billion in paper wealth since the stock’s peak. At the 15 October closing price, the shares they had sold since the IPO would have been worth nearly one-third less than the pretax proceeds from those sales.
CoreWeave shares fall from June 2025 peak
CoreWeave shares rose 359% from the offering price to their peak three months after the March 2025 IPO. At that point, Intrator’s estimated net worth reached $11.8 billion and all three founders entered Bloomberg’s ranking of the world’s 500 richest people. The shares have since fallen more than 60% from that June peak.
The stock fell 15% on 14 October, then recovered some ground on 15 October. A gauge of CoreWeave’s credit risk reached a record high after McBee spoke to the Financial Times about access to potentially “unlimited” capital from insurers, Citybiz reported. The company has faced investor scrutiny over borrowing costs, credit exposure and spending on computing capacity.
CoreWeave shares fell about 9% on 16 October after the founder sales were reported, Finimize reported. The drop followed the decline earlier in the week as investors assessed financing concerns around the AI infrastructure company.
CoreWeave says founders retain a 20% stake
CoreWeave described the disposals as routine financial planning and said all the sales had been scheduled in advance and fully disclosed, Citybiz reported. A company spokesperson said Intrator, Venturo and McBee remain among its six largest shareholders. Together, they own approximately 20% of CoreWeave after the transactions.
The founders also received cash before CoreWeave’s public listing. They took a combined $488 million through tender offers in 2023 and 2024, according to the company’s IPO prospectus as reported by Citybiz.
