Google has bid $10 million for bankrupt Spirit Airlines’ data, while AI startup Micro1 is willing to pay $12.5 million for the same package, Anadolu reported on 30 September.

The sale list includes some 97.5 million passenger records collected since 1992, according to court documents described by the news agency. The database also contains 13.7 million email addresses, loyalty programme information and data from Spirit’s partner firms.

The package extends beyond passenger data. It includes personnel files for more than 175,000 workers and 1.5 million internal communications drawn from email and Microsoft Teams. Workers and suppliers are concerned about possible leaks of sensitive information, Anadolu reported.

Spirit sold 27 ageing Airbus aircraft for $668 million on 25 September amid financial difficulties. The data sale would put a separate price on records accumulated through the airline’s operations. A court hearing to approve the sale is expected on 30 September.
