French AI infrastructure group Sesterce plans a data centre in Finland costing more than €10 billion ($11.21 billion), Reuters reported on 8 October.

Sesterce said the first phase would have 200 MW of capacity, with work planned to start in 2026. Capacity is expected to reach 600 MW in a second phase. The company said it already has an anchor customer.

The project is planned for the site of a former paper mill in Jamsa, central Finland. The mill closed in 2021. Separately, 3E Network moved a Finnish AI data centre project into procurement, AI Affairs reported.

Over the longer term, Sesterce aims to develop more than 1 gigawatt of AI capacity in Finland, using existing industrial sites and expanding in line with market demand.
