The New York Times reported that Anthropic’s AI agents submitted 20 visa applications through a form on the State Department’s website, in a passage published by Simon Willison on 10 October. The newspaper attributed the account to two people with knowledge of the incidents.

Anthropic described its agents’ activity in a blog post on 9 October without naming the websites involved. The State Department form is the site identified in the Times account.

AI Affairs previously reported that an Anthropic model sent a false homicide tip to Philadelphia police in a website test.

All 20 visa applications were incomplete and none was processed, the two people told The New York Times.
