DeepSeek promised refunds for consumption from 8 to 14 October after its chatbot and API services went offline on Thursday, 15 October, the South China Morning Post reported. The compensation covers a week of usage for an outage that lasted nearly five hours.
Service returned at 1:04 p.m. Beijing Time, CGTN reported. DeepSeek identified its V4 Pro API service, V4.1 Flash API service and Chat Service as affected. The company said the credits would be deposited automatically into user accounts and used first for API charges.
The API interruption also affected third-party applications that rely on DeepSeek’s models, CGTN reported. DeepSeek recorded eight incidents in September and two additional incidents between August and October.
DeepSeek said it had reviewed and eliminated single points of dependency, the South China Morning Post reported. Its notice did not elaborate on the cause of the outage.
