Anthropic launched Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion on 8 October, adding tools for live data displays and editable animations to its AI assistant, Reuters reported. Dashboards is in beta on paid plans, while Motion is in beta for Team and Enterprise customers. Anthropic also made Claude Docs, Slides and Design generally available across its plans.
Key points
- Claude Dashboards builds live displays from questions about connected business data.
- Claude Motion creates editable animations that can be exported as video files.
- Docs, Slides and Design are now available on all Claude plans, including Free.
Claude Dashboards connects questions to live data
Dashboards connects Claude to business data platforms and customer-management systems, so a question written in ordinary language can produce an analysis and a live dashboard. Users can ask about connected data without writing SQL themselves. Anthropic said it aimed to help people analyse business data without coding, Reuters reported.
The supported connections include Databricks, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, ClickHouse and Salesforce, Digital Trends reported. Claude retrieves the answer and refreshes the resulting dashboard as new data arrives. A displayed number can also be clicked to reveal the query that produced it — the equivalent of looking behind a total on a receipt to see how it was worked out.
Checking sign-ups against an earlier period could therefore begin with a question rather than a database command. If the underlying figures changed, the display would update, and clicking a number would let the question behind it be inspected before that number was used in a presentation. Those steps follow from the connections, refresh behaviour and query view described for the tool; they depend on the relevant data being connected.
Digital Trends described Dashboards as a way to explore questions quickly, rather than as a replacement for dedicated business-intelligence software. For work that calls for deeper analysis, dashboards can be exported to Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel or Sigma. Support for Looker, Perplexity and Tableau is planned, according to the publication.
That division gives builders two distinct places to work with the same question: a view assembled in Claude for initial exploration, and an export to another product when the analysis calls for it. The beta is available on paid Claude plans, making access to the connected-data feature narrower than access to the Docs, Slides and Design tools released alongside it.
Claude Motion animates text and charts
Claude Motion takes a different route to visual output. It writes code to move text, charts, shapes and images, rather than generating video footage or synthetic people, Digital Trends reported. A request could turn information from a report or a chart into a short animation, with the words, numbers and timing left editable afterwards. That distinction matters when a figure changes: the animation is made from elements that can be altered, rather than from finished footage alone.
The finished animation can be exported as an MP4 file or sent to Adobe, Canva, Runway or Luma AI. Video export provides a file that can be played, while the editable version leaves room to change its constituent parts before export. Reuters reported that Motion is in beta for Team and Enterprise customers, a narrower release than Dashboards on paid plans.
For a presentation built around a changing chart, code-driven movement would allow its text, figures and timing to be revised before the video file was made. That is the practical difference between Motion’s approach and generated footage: the source material for the movement remains available for editing.
Claude Docs, Slides and Design leave beta
The launches sit alongside a change to tools already in Claude. Docs, Slides and Design have left beta and are generally available across all plans, including Free. The release places document, slide and design work alongside the newer dashboard and animation features, though access to the two beta tools still follows their separate paid-plan rules.
AI Affairs reported that Amazon opened seller tools to Claude through a plugin in a US beta. The dashboard connections announced on 8 October extend that kind of work into questions about company data, while Motion addresses how information can be presented.
Docs, Slides and Design had been in beta before Anthropic made them generally available on 8 October. Unlike the new Dashboards and Motion betas, all three are now available to Claude Free accounts as well as paid plans.
