Modular AC-coupled design meets Nvidia reference requirements
LG Energy Solution’s qualified product uses an integrated AC architecture built around modular 2.5 megawatt / 5.1 megawatt-hour battery blocks that can be combined as power requirements grow. The company says the design supports grid-forming capability, fast response times and voltage ride-through, and is engineered to meet applicable UL and NFPA safety standards. Nvidia’s DSX Ready programme evaluates partner products against its DSX AI factory reference design, which unifies compute, networking, power, cooling, facilities and software. Passing qualification does not replace site-level engineering or imply site-level stability, Nvidia notes in its launch announcement.
North American manufacturing expansion underpins supply commitment
The qualification arrives as LG Energy Solution scales a localised North American value chain spanning battery cell manufacturing, pack production and system integration. The company plans to secure more than 50 gigawatt-hours of lithium iron phosphate cell production capacity by the end of 2026 through five regional facilities, a figure it says will strengthen supply chain resilience for data centre, infrastructure and utility-scale storage demand. Its portfolio also includes DC battery container and PCS-integrated AC battery container solutions, with IRA-compliant offerings eligible for applicable investment tax credits.
Nvidia DSX Ready creates common qualification for power and cooling
Nvidia introduced DSX Ready on 21 September 2026 as a qualification programme for power and cooling products that meet applicable DSX AI factory reference design requirements. The programme launched with two categories — battery energy storage systems and cooling distribution units — and qualified three BESS providers and three CDU providers at inception. As AI Affairs reported on the programme’s launch, the aim is to give AI factory builders a clearer way to discover and evaluate infrastructure offerings while reducing integration risk. For BESS providers, partners perform qualification evaluations and furnish results for Nvidia’s assessment within a specified qualification scope.
Chang Beom Kang, Head of ESS Battery Division at LG Energy Solution, said the qualification validates the strength and competitiveness of the company’s BESS products and that it will further expand its digital infrastructure business building on local manufacturing capabilities and technology leadership.
