Meta released the weights for Muse Spark Open on 15 October, allowing developers to download and adapt the model, Bloomberg reported. Meta says the model is designed for coding and AI agents, and is less advanced than Muse Wonder, which the company is keeping closed as it seeks revenue from its AI investments.
Weights are the settings a model uses to operate. Releasing them lets developers run Muse Spark Open themselves and change it for a particular task, rather than relying on access to a model Meta operates.
Fixing a bug in a piece of software could involve a version adapted for that coding task, because the released settings allow developers to modify the model.
Meta launched Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full on 12 October, describing them as its most capable models, Markets.com reported. Muse Wonder costs $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens through Meta’s API. Muse Wonder Full is available through paid Muse Code subscriptions rather than the general API.
