Tencent Cloud launched Tencent Cloud DataBuddy on 22 September 2026, describing it as a managed workbench that makes AI agents part of data and analytics operations. The cloud business of Tencent calls it its third assistant-class product, alongside Tencent CodeBuddy and WorkBuddy.

DataBuddy puts agents in four workflows
Tencent Cloud says DataBuddy covers Data Engineering, Data Governance, Data Analytics and Data Science. In engineering, it describes an agent that can build a data pipeline from a natural-language request and repair it when problems arise. Its governance agent is designed to check a data warehouse’s metadata, the path data has taken, its quality and its security.
For analytics, Tencent Cloud describes conversational answers that can investigate the cause of a change in the data. Its Data Science capabilities bring data and AI work onto one foundation, which the company says reduces the time needed to deploy a model from 30 days to 7. Tencent Cloud also claims efficiency gains of 5x to 10x across data teams.
Unity Semantics and the accuracy claim
Tencent Cloud calls Unity Semantics a business semantic layer. Such a layer gives an agent business terms to work with when it turns a question into a data query — closer to consulting a labelled index than guessing which shelf holds an item. Tencent Cloud reports 95.9% analysis accuracy for this approach, compared with 83.5% for plain natural-language-to-SQL, which turns a question directly into a database query.
Checking why a figure changed could begin with a question in ordinary language and lead to an explanation, if the conversational analysis Tencent Cloud describes works as claimed. That would bring the kind of investigation the company assigns to its analytics agent into a familiar task: making sense of a number before acting on it.
Agent Runtime, OneOps and existing engines
Tencent Cloud says an Agent Runtime layer is designed to let enterprises run agents with governance, auditability and data controls built in. It also describes OneOps as a way to bring together DataOps, MLOps and AIOps — operations for data, machine-learning models and AI systems — within the workbench.
Companies adopting DataBuddy can connect their existing OLAP engines without moving data, Tencent Cloud says, or use its combined storage and computing platform. Tencent Cloud says DataBuddy is available in markets including China, Thailand, South Korea and Indonesia, with rollouts under way across Europe, North America and South America.
