Cognizant said in its 30 October announcement that it had formed the OpenAI Frontier Capability Group, bringing together more than 25,000 professionals to deliver products including Codex and ChatGPT to enterprise clients. The Nasdaq-listed technology services company said the group will build and support systems using OpenAI models.

Cognizant said more than 21,000 associates have earned 40,000-plus badges for completing OpenAI learning tracks. Its sales and customer success teams already use a tool built on OpenAI models to identify and pursue opportunities, the company said. Cognizant also formed a Gemini-focused group with Google Cloud involving more than 18,000 associates.

The OpenAI group will initially work on software engineering with Codex, application modernisation and customer operations. Cognizant said engineers will review consequential decisions made during modernisation work. It said an OpenAI-powered assistant it co-engineered for a biopharmaceutical client has handled more than 5 million conversations and reduced content creation time by 60%.
