HCLTech, India’s third-largest IT services firm, signed a partnership with Anthropic on 12 October to establish a dedicated AI business unit, Reuters reported. The arrangement also calls for a centre of excellence to build agentic AI solutions.

Key points

  • HCLTech plans a business unit and centre of excellence for work with Anthropic.
  • Its teams will incorporate Claude, Cowork and Claude Code into industry solutions.
  • The partnership focuses on safety, cybersecurity and governance.
  • HCLTech previously invested $150 million for a 10% stake in Sarvam AI, Sahi Markets reported.

Anthropic products enter HCLTech industry solutions

HCLTech’s teams will build industry solutions incorporating Anthropic’s Claude, Cowork and Claude Code products. Reuters reported that the partnership is intended to accelerate enterprise adoption of AI agents, with safety, cybersecurity and governance among its stated priorities.

The dedicated unit and centre of excellence put HCLTech’s staff at the centre of that work. Their stated remit is to build solutions for enterprise customers using Anthropic products, rather than simply offer the products under the partnership.

Claude models in Agent Studio and AI Force

HCLTech has integrated Claude models into Agent Studio and AI Force to coordinate enterprise workflows run by AI agents, Sahi Markets reported. The publication also reported plans to embed Claude models in HCLSoftware’s enterprise products.

Those product integrations are separate from the planned business unit: one concerns software HCLTech offers, while the other concerns the team it will establish to develop solutions. HCLTech’s partnership covers both, according to the accounts of the arrangement.

HCLTech’s 20 solutions and Sarvam AI stake

On 8 October, HCLTech unveiled 20 Industry AI Solutions aimed at banking, healthcare, telecom and manufacturing, Sahi Markets reported. The sector-specific portfolio gives the Anthropic partnership an existing set of offerings alongside which HCLTech can develop its industry work.

HCLTech also invested $150 million for a 10% stake in Sarvam AI in June 2026. The publication described that investment as part of HCLTech’s work on sovereign AI capabilities.

HCLTech will announce its second-quarter results later on 12 October, Reuters reported.
