Microsoft said on 21 October 2026 that Volkswagen Group had equipped more than 330,000 employees with Copilot, following a phased rollout that began with access to Copilot Chat.
Copilot Chat reached upwards of 300,000 monthly active users at Volkswagen Group, according to Microsoft. The company said employees are now using Copilot with Work IQ for work spanning engineering, production, procurement and sales. It said more than 26,000 agents had been active across the group over the past month.
Microsoft and Volkswagen Group intend to expand the Intelligent Data Foundation, Volkswagen Group’s unified data ecosystem, on Microsoft Fabric. Sophie Vassarotti, Volkswagen Group’s Head of Group Data and AI, and Rupert Stuetzle, Microsoft’s GM, Manufacturing and Mobility, EMEA, will present the collaboration at the Microsoft AI Tour in Cologne on 22 October 2026 at 9:00 a.m. CEST.
