China issued guidelines on AI and employment on 23 October, urging government agencies to mitigate job displacement caused by AI applications, Reuters reported in a syndicated dispatch.

The guidelines also call on agencies to enhance AI’s positive effects on employment. They ask public bodies to address the loss of jobs associated with its use while pursuing employment gains from the technology.

The guidelines identify two aims for that effort: creating new job opportunities and improving job quality.
