Nooks secured a $500 million commitment from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund on 4 November 2026 to finance a sales and marketing expansion, Reuters reported. The AI sales automation startup announced the financing alongside the formal launch of its Revenue Agent Platform, which is designed to cover work from a prospect’s first contact through renewal.

Key points

  • General Catalyst will take a share of returns generated with its capital rather than buy Nooks shares.
  • Nooks says it is on track to nearly triple annual recurring revenue by the end of 2026.
  • The company says it has more than 2,000 customers and had net revenue retention of 135 per cent.

General Catalyst takes a share of returns

The Customer Value Fund is General Catalyst’s vehicle for providing growth capital in exchange for a share of the returns that capital helps produce, rather than an equity stake. Nooks CEO Dan Lee said that is how the commitment to his company is structured. The arrangement ties the fund’s return to results from the spending it finances, while leaving Nooks’ shares outside this transaction.

Lee declined to give details of the deal’s terms, Reuters reported. His description identifies the source of General Catalyst’s return, but gives no payment schedule or share of returns. The $500 million is a commitment for Nooks’ expansion, rather than a reported price for an ownership stake.

Lee said the financing would help Nooks expand and introduce products. “We felt that this was the best way to finance both aggressive growth and also taking new products to market,” he said. The company is directing the commitment towards sales and marketing as it seeks to sell the newly launched platform.

The structure differs from the equity financing in Heidi’s $340 million Series C, which valued the clinical AI startup at $900 million. General Catalyst’s stated return from the Nooks commitment instead depends on what the capital helps generate.

Nooks targets nearly threefold recurring revenue

Nooks says its annual recurring revenue is on course to nearly triple by the end of 2026. It did not disclose the current figure, Reuters reported. That growth target is the company’s account of its trajectory as it takes on financing whose returns are linked to the results of its expansion.

The startup says it has more than 2,000 customers, including Cursor, Notion, Replit, Glean and HubSpot. It also reported net revenue retention of 135 per cent, a measure of how revenue from existing customers changes over time. Those figures describe the customer base and its spending before the planned sales and marketing push delivers further results.

Nooks is betting that sales will follow coding, legal work and customer support as a profession reshaped by AI, Reuters reported. The commitment gives the company capital to pursue that plan through a larger commercial effort and new products. General Catalyst’s share of returns is tied to the business that spending helps bring in.

Revenue Agent Platform spans first contact to renewal

Nooks formally launched its Revenue Agent Platform on 4 November. The company designed it to handle sales tasks across the customer relationship, from initial contact to renewal. The launch puts a broader product offering alongside the financing for the sales and marketing effort.

Pranav Singhvi, a partner and co-head of General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund, said the platform had demonstrated what he described as predictable revenue generation and strong unit economics. He said those were qualities the fund seeks in companies it finances.
