Bloomberg reported on 4 November that Alibaba, Tencent, ByteDance and other Chinese AI and cloud companies expect to receive roughly 1% of the about 6 million Nvidia RTX Pro 5500 chips they have ordered over the following four months. Bloomberg put the orders’ value at $70 billion.

AI Affairs previously reported orders for over 3 million Nvidia cards and a supply squeeze facing Chinese buyers.

The companies now predict deliveries of only some tens of thousands of RTX Pro 5500 chips within four months, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Nvidia is struggling to increase production quickly enough to meet demand.
