Anthropic’s 26 October S-1 filing showed $131.7 billion in cash and short-term investments at 30 June, more than every non-bank US company except Berkshire Hathaway and Alphabet in data compiled by CNBC and S&P Capital IQ, CNBC reported. The filing, submitted ahead of a planned initial public offering, put cash and cash equivalents at $112.4 billion and short-term investments at $19.3 billion.
Anthropic has raised $141 billion in private financing. Existing investors also plan to sell shares in the offering, meaning the company will not receive all its proceeds.
Compute and infrastructure expenses reached $8.95 billion in the first half. Anthropic said it typically buys computing capacity 12 to 18 months before it becomes available and records the expense when that capacity is ready.
At 30 June, the filing estimated lease obligations before discounting at $321.4 billion and put expected fixed or minimum-guaranteed commitments at $265.6 billion. Anthropic subsequently entered new and amended agreements with minimum future payments of about $245 billion, CNBC reported.
